Restorative Dentistry

Everyday we eat, drink and talk and due to many reason from time to time we may need to take care of some dental aches and problems.

Below you will find different solutions to bring back your healthy smile.

Root canal treatment:

A root canal therapy is a treatment for the pulp of a tooth whose end result is the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion.

Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth’s pulp, a small, thread-like tissue in the center of the tooth.  Once the damaged, diseased or dead pulp is removed, the remaining space is cleaned, shaped and filled. This procedure seals off the root canal.

Years ago, teeth with diseased or injured pulps were removed. Today, root canal treatment saves many teeth that would otherwise be lost. It is best that the tooth is fitted with crown; this increases the prognosis of the tooth by six times.

Options to replace Missing teeth:

Dental implantsDental implants are small titanium screws that act as artificial tooth roots when placed in the jawbone. They help to support replacement teeth that look, fell, and function like natural teeth, and can offer many benefits, such as:

  • Eliminate the need to grind down healthy adjacent teeth as required by traditional crown and bridge procedures.
  • Help to stimulate and maintain the bone tissues in the jaw and consequently the facial structures.
  • Eliminate the need for denture adhesives and the discomfort often associated with ill-fitting dentures.

A bridge may be recommended if you’re missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

A dental bridge or fixed partial denture is a restoration used to replace a missing tooth by joining permanently to adjacent teeth or dental implants. The teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth are reduced in size to accommodate the material to be used to restore the size and shape of the original teeth in a correct alignment and contact with the opposing teeth.

The materials used for the bridges include gold, porcelain fused to metal, or in the correct situation porcelain alone.

Removable Partials and Dentures:

Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and put back into your mouth. While dentures take some getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as one’s natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever.

There are two main types of dentures: full and partial.  A partial denture rests on a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth. Sometimes crowns are placed on some of your natural teeth and serve as anchors for the denture. Partial dentures offer a removable alternative to bridges.
